Great Spaces For Great People

Mills Oakley Lawyers

The challenge for the design team was to break up the very large floor plate in the low rise of 530 Collins Street with the use of paint colours and the creation of zones to achieve a homogeneous place of work in an effort to avoid sectional formations.

The client was concerned about the public face of the practice with clients seeing lots of files on lawyers’ desks and offices. The design team addressed these issues by creating a "conference centre" where the practice is now able to invite clients into whilst at the same time keeping offices spaces private. These large conference rooms, located off reception are flexible in nature for partner and staff meetings and seminars and can be in turn sub-divided by the use of operable walls.

One standard size offices for lawyers and universal workstations allow for maximum flexibility for future movement.

A large central breakout area was introduced to encourage staff collaboration and to create a sense of ownership.
