Great Spaces For Great People

Thales Australia, Canberra

The Thales office project was integrated with the building owners demolition and refurbishment of the ex Commonwealth Games/Casino space on Concourse and adjoining public areas at Northbank, World Trade Centre.

The brief was to create a work space which best utilised this buildings key location on the river front and to consolidate the entire Thales operation on one jumbo floor plate comprising 6,200 square metres. A variety of design elements were introduced to help guide and navigate both staff and visitors alike to different areas on this large floor.

To connect the main reception on Concourse with the boardroom and staff breakout on the far side perimeter of this tenancy a “journey corridor” was constructed to aid circulation to link these facilities. This “journey corridor” also links other passageways leading to office space to the east and west of the tenancy. The proscenium carpet tile was adopted to clearly define a key dispersion point along this corridor. The use of the “Timberline” carpet tile to all other spaces both front and back-of-house allowed for seamless transitions between all these areas.
